This product is a versatile sequestrant that effectively prevents discoloration of pool water caused by iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and other metals and minerals that may be present in the water supply. Additionally, it offers excellent protection for plumbing and pool walls, safeguarding them against rust, stains, and scale. It is recommended to use this product for both opening and closing the pool, as well as periodically throughout the season as required.

When filling the pool for the first time, if there is a suspicion of iron or other metallic contaminants, add one quart of Metal Free for every 10,000 gallons of pool water. It should be added while the pool is being filled and before adding chlorine.

To resolve any existing issues with colored water caused by mineral presence, it is best to close the pool to swimmers and continue running the filter pump. Cease chlorination and allow the chlorine level to decrease to zero. Then, lower the pH of the pool water to 6.8 using pH Lower, as this will help dissolve the metallic impurities. Next, add one quart of Metal Free per 10,000 gallons of water and allow the pool water to circulate overnight, or until it becomes clear. Adjust the pH of the pool water to a range between 7.2 and 7.8 using pH Rise. Finally, resume normal pool operation and chlorination when the chlorine residual reaches 1.0-3.0 ppm, ensuring it is safe for swimming.

To compensate for any loss of Metal Free due to backwashing or splash-out, add one quart of Metal Free for every 20,000 gallons of pool water once every month.
